Please enjoy this two part story written by Sue McComber that was shared with the Firehouse email list. These events took place last month:
A story of praise! A dear friend of the Firehouse that we shall call Terry came in last night. We haven’t seen much of him over recent months, but know that he lives partially on the street and partially with various friends. To know Terry is to know a gentle giant who has temporarily lost himself and as a result, left his family. It was so good to see him again, and the conversation quicly turned to his sadness in that he misses his family. To make a long story short, by the time we were done talking, he was on our phone talking by long distance to his wife. Months of separation quicly dissolved as they both reaffirmed their love for each other. In front of my eyes, I watched God at work in the heart of a husband and father. Tears rolled down his face as he heard the words he was scared to ask, but long to hear, “Come home…”
Malachi 4:5-6 says, “See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers…” Pray for Terry while he gets his affairs in order to go home. Thank you Jesus for your love and grace!
